Playing the drum set is very physically demanding as it requires the use of all four limbs.  Both instruction and practice will focus on repetition as a means of building muscle memory.  A helpful way to think about this method is, “You have to first learn how to crawl, then learn how to walk, and then you can run.”  Students will also be encouraged to explore the vast array of sounds and textures contained in the drum set by taking a portion of time to play on their own to inspire their sense of creativity.  The goal of this method is to gradually combine the muscle memory through repetition, with the ability to develop creative ideas on their own.

A flute lesson is always interesting and enjoyable. We begin with simple exercises – position of the mouthpiece is most important!  Simple songs are learned along with continued exercises and scales. If a student does not know notes, then Notespellers are introduced also. Eventually, with maturity, simple flute duets are practiced and learned and really fun to play. We would proceed into recitals with solos, duets, and even trios, which are very exciting and beautiful to play and hear. Lessons are always fun and maturity with this instrument is not difficult.  Miss Brenda looks forward to sharing her teaching ability from many, many years of accomplished playing.

Just like life, this workshop will provide you with the chance to acknowledge what is uncomfortable in your life. It will open you up to recognize your fears or areas you are stuck. The Yoga Sutras tell us that everything that happens is for our enjoyment or enlightenment. Some things will be easier for your joy and some will be more challenging to awaken your experience. You can choose to then soften or simply be still with what is as we end this beautiful day of healing with a 30 minute yoga nidra. This workshop is appropriate for everyone. No previous experience with yoga is needed. Bring yourself, comfortable clothes, a yoga mat, and throw blanket, if you have one, and water. Everything else will be provided.
We will open with a reiki meditation healing, where you and I meet your reiki guide.

Fee is $35.

Only 15 spaces available so enroll today.

LOTUS PROJECT BENEFIT
Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Pricing: To Be Announced

The Lotus Project is a side project our studio is sponsoring. It was inspired by the sudden suicidal death of one of Beth’s previous students who tragically took her life at the age of 19.

What the Lotus Project helps to achieve is to offer free holistic/artistic services to teen/young adult girls who are suffering from the mental strains of life (depression, anxiety, bullying, addiction, etc.). We would like to create a safe haven and supportive community for these girls. We would like to create an environment where they can meditate, participate in yoga and other artistic activities such as movement, art, and music to help them work through their struggles so they can emerge from the mud of life and display the lotus flower that is within.

The money raised from our Open Mic Benefit will go towards the payment of the instructors and materials needed so that these services can be completely free for these girls. Special meetings will be held to organize the Lotus Project workshops to follow.

If you are interested in being on the committee or participating in the Open Mic event, please see Beth Connor for more details.

The Benefit will take place at The American Grill, 1320 Wyoming Avenue in Exeter from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Meditation/Restorative Yoga is a practice using supported poses to relax on multiple levels to release tension and to tap into our body’s natural healing and restoring abilities. Restorative Yoga is a gentle practice that creates the space and conditions for the student to access their wisdom physically, emotionally, and mentally. Our bodies have the ability to heal and thrive when we learn to balance all the doing with being. We live in a body that has an amazing system already in place to find the path to health and happiness. Restorative yoga can awaken students’ awareness of the effects of stress so that they may release and make conscious choices of their next thought, word, and action.
